sportBU is proud to announce the opening of our brand new 3G Astro pitches on Monday 14 March at 2pm.
Talbot Arena comprises two fully enclosed floodlit 6-a-side pitches at the University’s Talbot Campus, Fern Barrow. These fantastic, top quality football pitches significantly improve the outdoor sports facilities at the University and their provision fits perfectly well with BU’s focus on enhancing student experience. sportBU at the University looks forward to taking bookings from a wide range of users - be they students, staff, businesses, schools or any other group wanting to use the pitches.
3G football surfaces are the next generation of football pitches, representing a new development in synthetic turf. 3G pitches are the more realistic than Astroturf, yet safer than grass. 3G pitches generally have less bumps and holes so you’re less likely to trip and get injured. It also looks like natural grass with similar playing characteristics (its all in the way the ball bounces), its non-abrasive and it can be used with moulded boots.
Why not be one of the first people to play on the state of the art new Astro pitch and test it out for yourself. We are offering a football tournament on Wednesday 30th March, it will be an all-day event, fully organised with referees and a good day for football. There are only 16 places available at a cost of £40 per team so get your application forms in quick. We will also be offering presentation and food offers in Dylan’s for an after tournament social.
