With a choice of three choirs, singing is one of the music department’s most popular activities.
The University's Choral Society is open to students, staff and members of the local community. Working in collaboration with the College Choral Society, we rehearse and perform major works from the choral repertoire with professional orchestras and soloists of international repute. Our programme for the remainder of this academic year includes Faure’s ‘Requiem’, Allegri’s ‘Miserere’ and Haydn’s ‘Creation’.
Tuesday 5.45pm-7.15pm in the Student Hall, Talbot House.
BU students free, BU staff £30, External £50.
This vocal consort concentrates on the rehearsal and performance of a wide range of liturgical music from the sixteenth century to the present day. Potential members will be asked to attend a short informal audition to ensure an effective balance of voices within the group. Previous choral experience, along with good sight-reading skills, will be essential for all members. As in any small ensemble, singers will need to commit fully to all practices and performances and take an active part in the management and organisation of the ensemble. This ensemble is only open to students.
Tuesdays 4.45pm-5.45pm in the Student Hall, Talbot House.
