Focus sports

Outstanding programmes with a focus on you.

By 2014 we want to be in the top 25 institutions in the British Universities Sports Association (BUCS) overall rankings.

Since 2001 BU has gone from 125th to 30th in 2010/11 - that's out of 144 institutions.

We can do better than that though -and to achieve our aim we have identified four focus sports.

• Cricket
• Golf
• Tennis
• Volleyball

By focusing staff time and energy into these sports Bournemouth University can be competitive with the very best institutions in the UK. All of these sports receive extensive investment, coaching, training and competitive opportunities to enable athletes to achieve their full sporting potential.

The focus sports will receive additional benefits including proactve recruitment, specific workshops aimed at holistic athlete development and quality coaching opportunities.

sportBU will continue to support other sports teams and elite athletes in the BUCS and local leagues.
