Free your Fitness and improve your participation in physical activity with sportBU.
Traditional sports - alternative sports - whatever you want to do, we can help you do it!
There's Cycling, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Rounders, Volleyball, Netball, Touch Rugby, Lacrosse, Rush Hockey, and a whole range of alternative sports including Kite-Surfing, Slacklining, Rock-It Ball and Indo-Boarding!
If you want to try any of these sports, the 'Free Your Fitness' project can make this happen!

This project also offers sport specific coaching courses and volunteering opportunities for students to take part in.

SportBU has been awarded a three-year Sport England-funded project as part of the mass participation legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The ‘Free Your Fitness' project aims to improve participation in sport and foster life-long sporting lifestyles so you are fit and healthy at BU - and stay that way when you leave.
Please see the Free Your Fitness booklet for the range of sports and physical activities that you can get involved in. Many sports and activities are free or have little cost attached and are a great way to try something new, make friends and get fit!
Developed in partnership with BH Live Trust and Sports National Governing Bodies, Free Your Fitness will provide opportunities unique to BU and AUCB students which are either heavily subsidised or free. From aerobics to Zumba, in a gym or outdoors, on land or water - there is something for everyone.
In addition, a small number of volunteers will be offered activities at reduced or no cost in return for their work promoting physical activity and health improvement.
Our partnership with Badminton England, British Cycling, England Netball, English Table Tennis Association, Rounders England and Volleyball England in conjunction with Wessex Volleyball offers you discounted taster sessions, regular training and coaching qualifications.
You can sign up for the project at sportBU reception. We will take your details so that we can report to Sport England on how the project is going. If you have any ideas or want us to add a sport or activity to the offer, come in and visit Chris Payne, our ‘Free Your Fitness' Sports Activator.
