Varsity sports are matches and leagues involving university level teams.

sportBU Varsity offers students the opportunity to excel and grow within a large comprehensive sports programme. All clubs compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition which provides inter-university sports competition across more than 144 universities throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In 2010/11, BU were ranked 30th out of 146 institutions.

Our range of over 34 team sports and numerous individual disciplines are supported by a wide variety of partnerships with local professional and semi-professional clubs. This enables athletes to compete at high quality facilities as well as provide opportunities for local and national league competitions.

Each club has a L2 or higher coach for weekly or bi-weekly training with additional free access to squad specific weekly SAQ, strength & conditioning, flexibility and varsity circuit sessions.

Varsity sports programmes are run on a paper and performance trial basis, with trials being held by each club at the start of each academic year.

Varsity matches take place on Wednesday afternoons with individual sports running at various times throughout the year. Our main tem sports venue is Bournemouth Sports Club along with out facilities on Talbot Campus.

We aim to:

  • Improve performance
